The construction industry makes up part of the building process and it mainly focuses on the assembling of a building infrastructure. Most commonly construction is the term used to describe larger buildings that are created rather than small scale buildings. The term construction is usually used with the architecture and civil engineering industries. Usually in the construction industry the creation of buildings will have to include a project manager in order to manage the process. As well as there being a project manager there will also usually be a construction manager, design engineer, construction engineer or project architect.
In order for the construction process to run smoothly it is important for the planning process to be in place. The planning and drawing of plans for a large construction can take a considerable amount of time. Usually the construction industry workers will have to consider the environmental impact of buildings. It is also important for construction projects to be delivered in time and on budget. Numerous different matters should be considered including scheduling, budgeting, construction site safety, availability of building materials, different logistics and the inconvenience of the building work. Construction work is incredibly expensive and the whole process will often include a lot of people to deliver a project.
Within the construction industry there are three main types of construction, these are building construction, heavy/civil construction and industrial construction. Each different type of constructions will require a particular team to carry out the whole project. Building construction is essentially the creation of new buildings, for example large apartment blocks and office blocks. Such building are notoriously difficult to deliver in budget and in the right time frame. On large construction projects there will usually be numerous different project managers. As well as the project managers there are also numerous different workers that are required to carry out the work.
The whole construction process for any kind of building is not simple and there are numerous different considerations that have to be made. For example there are restrictions on the size of buildings. Costs of buildings for the construction industry must be worked out before building work can commence. Those people wishing to construct a building must also seek planning permission for the building before the construction can begin.
